Workplace Campaign & Development Specialist

Position Summary:

The Workplace Campaign & Development Specialist will work closely with the fundraising team, Director of Development & Communications and CEO to meet the fundraising goals of United Way’s dynamic organization. The Workplace Campaign & Development Specialist is a key member of our high energy team, with a concentration on successfully leading the annual fund, donor stewardship initiatives, and affinity volunteer groups. Under the direction of the Director of Development & Communications, this position will also be responsible for maintaining donor relations and securing new donors, including corporate and individual giving, effective and efficient use of resources, and donor management systems to measure and achieve set goals. They will be asked to think strategically about the overall efforts of the organization, along with performing highly detailed, and creative work daily. This role will have primary responsibility for all workplace campaigns and all duties assigned with that initiative.

Fundraising Duties:

  • Responsible for all related corporate account fundraising duties, this includes outreach, coordination, account timelines, business development, and donor retention.
  • Schedule, plan, and conduct presentations to prospective and current donors to solicit donations both in person, recorded, and live - virtual.
  • Recruit, train, and manage relationships with corporate account coordinators.
  • Coordinate efforts with organized labor liaison for campaign engagement and assessment with set monthly connects.
  • Coordinate and assist with delivery and pick up of account materials.
  • Work within donor database including assisting with account management, pledge recording, donor data upkeep, and customer service of online giving.
  • Solicit for monetary, in-kind, and non-monetary donations and sponsorships to support United Way’s operations and initiatives.
  • Plan and execute United Way’s annual Day of Thanks donor appreciation event, including identifying accounts to recognize, ordering awards, and planning a theme with proper approval from the Director of Development & Communications.
  • All donor data entry and gift acknowledgements using United Way’s CRM.

Volunteer Coordination Duties:

  • Recruit, onboard, and maintain relationships with key volunteers.
  • Serve as staff lead for an existing affinity group, Emerging Leaders, which will include leading monthly meetings, planning and executing a minimum of one networking event, one goods drive and one volunteer opportunity annually.
  • Identify gaps in the committee, and recruit new committee and society members.
  • Assist in identifying and reaching annual membership and revenue goals.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Resource Development Strategic Plan efforts and follow through on its completion.
  • Complete any assigned reporting from the Director of Development & Communications.
  • Attend community events in Utica, Rome, and Herkimer.
  • Work cross-functionally with all United Way staff to support the organization.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications - Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Relations, Human Services, or related field + 1-2 years fundraising or sales experience required
  • Associates degree in Business, Public Relations, Human Services, or related field + 3-4 years fundraising or sales experience required

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirement:

  • Public Speaking skills and comfort are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Andar, Salesforce a plus.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, internal and external.
  • Ability to analyze and exercise sound judgment and problem-solving.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • The position requires local travel within Oneida and Herkimer counties.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Vehicle insurance and up-to-date registration are required.

Reports to: Director of Strategic Impact/ Finance and Office Administrator
Type of Position: Full-time

Position Summary
Works within a team environment to ensure that UWMV Strategic Impact Department and its initiatives continue to evolve and meet the challenge of improving the health, education and financial stability of people living in the Mohawk Valley. Works collaboratively on UWMV initiatives in alignment with established department and agency priorities. Will be responsible for, developing and maintaining donor contact records, updating databases, generating reports, attending committee meetings, and misc. administration work.
    
Qualifications-Education and Experience Requirements:  

  • 2-year degree preferred, but applicable life and work experience may qualify the candidate.    
  • 1 year experience using Salesforce a must.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to provide administrative, computer software applications, database, and project management support, with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Enjoys collecting and analyzing data related to human needs and program impact. An ideal candidate will be able to frame questions raised by the data gathered and effectively communicate insights to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Has a hunger for exploring and implementing innovative technologies and strategies for improving program outcomes and community impact.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and handle multiple priorities.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative, computer software applications, database, project development and implementation support with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Updating 211 database, building statistical reports for our 211 Mid-York Region.
  • Administrative Support for Strategic Impact committee and UWMV programs.
  • Community outreach/ Tabeling events
  • Provide regular data entry to ensure accurate reporting of all fundraising efforts including maintaining accurate corporate and individual donor records in CRM database.
  • Processes all fundraising and campaign transactions such as, match requests and workplace contributions.
  • Lead coordination and communications with other Global fundraising accounts and regional United Way’s.
  • Complete DBII report to United Way Worldwide.

Work Environment:

  • Local travel may be required.
  • 35-hour work week
